MoW v15 photo contest

It is becoming apparent to me that I probably will not be able to attend the 2010 Walnut Valley Festival at all and, if I do, it certainly won't be for the long stay necessary to take 52 good photos for volume 15 of the Memory of the Week. Therefore, I'm announcing a contest. The prize is that your photo will be a WV Memory of the Week and will be archived for posterity.

The first thing to do is to check the time setting on your digital camera. That way your file will have the correct time and date in the file information when you take the picture. The time stamp does not have to be visible in the picture (and I'd prefer that it didn't).

  • Your photo should be landscape layout (horizontal 4x3).
  • It should be cropped and/or resized down to 1024 pixels wide x 768 pixels high.
  • If you know how, "burn" your photo credit in a small font in the lower right corner of the picture.
Ideally, about one third of the winners will show activity in the Pecan Grove, one third in the West Campground, and one third in the interior or downtown at related events. Entries should be sent by September 25th but will be accepted until 52 winners have been chosen.

Submitting your entry

Each entry should be sent as an e-mail attachment to mow@pickersparadise.org. In the body of the e-mail, include the following information one line at a time:
  • where the photograph was taken
  • date and time taken (Central Daylight Time)
  • name of the photographer
  • suggested caption

The decisions of the mayor are probably final.

Any requests for clarification of the rules or requests for exemptions to the rules should be addressed to mayor@pickersparadise.org but the entries themselves should be addressed to mow@pickersparadise.org.
