What do you do with a thousand or more grade schoolers that are looking for fun, crafts and bluegrass? You take them to the largest bluegrass music festival in Oklahoma!
Each year OIBF strives to bring the world of bluegrass music to children of Guthrie and surrounding communities. By busing in children from the local schools and community, the festival hopes to inspire the next generation of pickers.
The Children's Tent is the place for all of this magic and enlightenment. Located just outside the actual festival, the tent offers various activities to keep the children entertained for hours on end. The crafting this go-around includes weaving yarn, making cornhusk dolls, butterfly mobiles, parachutes and many, many more exciting crafts.
This is the first year for Jess and Beverly Ray as the Children's Tent co-coordinators.
"I am extremely excited to take over this year for Sherri Mueller; she has done such a great job in the past and I want to carry on that tradition," said Beverly.
Another fun fad that the Children's Tent has to offer is live music. Artists performing on the main stage also perform short sets for the kids as well as the Youth Band Competition.
