We didn't rent a car for this trip to Newfoundland but I did want to show Tom some of our favourite sites out of town. My friend, Jane Rutherford, volunteered to take us for a drive around the northeast Avalon. Her mother-in-law, Audrey Rutherford, lives in England but visits Newfoundland annually at this time of the year and has been a friend of ours for several years. She was pleasant company but, when we stopped the car to walk around, I found her hard to keep up with.
