Our 2006 Trip to Newfoundland Auntie Crae's
Auntie Crae's House Band (& friends)

This photo was taken by Don Shorock at 12:40 PM NDT on Tuesday, the 1st of August, 2006 One of the best music experiences St. John's has to offer doesn't cost a cent. That is, unless you choose to eat. But why would you do that? Auntie Crae's has some of the best food in town. It's not a restaurant, though. It's a deli, bakery, coffee roastery, and specialty grocery store. They also have an adjacent room where you can eat your purchases. It is in that room that Frank Maher and friends gather to form Auntie Crae's House Band. It's an awesome jam session with (sometimes) upwards of a dozen musicians earning their lunch (that's all they're paid). Every Tuesday, the music starts at about 12:30 and runs until 2:00 or 2:30. Nora & I have been in St. John's at lunchtime on five Tuesdays. We've gone to hear the music at Auntie Crae's on five occasions. Does that tell you something? The photo above is 420x315 pixels. If you have high-speed internet, I can e-mail you a larger (2048x1536) version. To request one, e-mail me at don@shorock.com and specify photo #335 (P8016847.jpg). |
