Natalie MacMaster
I first learned about Natalie MacMaster in the Great Big Sea Chatroom. She was highly recommended as a performer you don't want to miss. They were right. I saw her this past summer (August 2000) at the Philadelphia Folk Festival. She played on the main stage on Saturday afternoon. People who were hurrying somewhere during her concert just stopped dead in their tracks and watched and danced. I t was a wonderful experience. SHe had everyone in the palm of her hand.
I saw her most recently at the Keswick Theater in Abington, PA. It was sold out and yet another entertaining night. I went with hubby Vic, my brother Tom and sister-in-law Dora, and Nancy C from the GBS chatroom. I had brought my fiddle with me in hopes of her signing it. So after the show I went up to the security guard and asked if she was coming out to sign autographs. The conversation went like this:
Him: I don't know if she's coming out.
Me: Well if she's not, do you think you could take this back and see if she'd autograph it?
Him: It's a violin.
Me: Yes, it is.
Him: Most people bring paper.
Me: I'm not most people.
Him: Sit right here. She'll be out in a minute. I gotta see this!

So I sat there, she came out and invited me to go up to the autograph table so she could sit down and sign it. She did, I was extremely happy and the security guard just shook his head. By the way, three other people brought their fiddles, too!

Here's a pic of me and Natalie MacMaster at the Keswick.
