KILT
Saw Kilt, a Cape Breton band,  for the first time in Collegeville, Pa. on October 13/14 2000. Met Sharon and her sister, Howard and Cheryl, and Caroline -- all from the GBS Chatroom there. They played two sets about an hour apiece. We met some native Cape Bretoners and a Newfoundlander there enjoying the show, too.
Many thanks to the people in the
Great Big Sea Chatroom who have introduced me to some wonderful bands I otherwise never would have heard of.

Here are some pics from the show.
Tony and Brennan
Tony singing his little heart out!
Tony saying, "Hi Dominique! (Em) See you in Ottawa!"
Really! That's what he said as I snapped the pic!
Tony and Bonnie Jean
She plays a mean fiddle!
Kilt as well as other great Celtic bands like Hadrian's Wall, Blackthorn and the Glengarry Bhoys  played at the East of the Hebrides Mid-Winter Festival on February 16th & 17th.
Spinne, Caroline, Jane in VA, NanC, and Karen and I attended and snapped these pics.
There are more I have to scan. Enjoy them and the review.
Kilt at the East of the Hebrides Scottish/Irish Festival in King of Prussia, PA   February, 17,2001

Well, NanC and her friend Judy, Jane in Virginia, my daughter Karen and I went to the festival after a preliminary jam session for the GBS Kitchen Tapes at my house. We’re not quite ready for Prime Time but we’re getting’ there! BTW-  NanC has a lovely singing voice. At any rate we joined a million other people in the parking lot, made our own space and caught the tail end of Timlin and Kane, a trad Irish duo. Very good, too. Nearly got run over by a Pipe Band and sat on the floor to hear Kilt since there were no chairs left. Met up with Spinne and Caroline right before the show and sat with them.

They had a terrible time setting up – it must have taken 30 minutes, so they only got to play for about 30 minutes. Please don’t ask me what exactly they played, although I do remember
Dylan's Ghost, Tsunami, a couple nice fiddle tunes, a Brennan song, and they ended with a KISS song, I Was made for Loving You.

They were called back for an encore and what did they do? Michael Jackson’s
Billie Jean! It was not what I expected them to do at an Irish Festival for an encore. When they came back out for the encore Tony asked what cover should they sing. My daughter Karen yelled out, “No Brittany Spears!” Tony made a comment, “No everything we do(have?) is real. The audience cracked up and he went on about how it was an innocent statement and we shouldn’t read anything into it. They audience seemed to enjoy their too short set though and I saw quite a few people buying CDs afterwards.

Enjoyed Hadrian’s Wall afterwards and decided that GBS should wear kilts. The previous evening we saw the Glengarry Bhoys and Blackthorn. The Bhoys were good and Blackthorn sucked.

We took some pics for Ém afterwards and Tony stopped to say “Hi!” on his way out the door for dinner. They did have a catering tent but Graham of the Glengarry Bhoys had gotten food poisoning earlier so no one was eating at the venue. LOL! I don’t know if he got the food poisoning from the venue food, but no one was willing to take the chance! LOL!

After driving around King of Prussia looking for a restaurant that wasn’t full, we ended up at Binni & Flynn’s to eat Mexican. The company was great, of course! Then our little group split up with Spinne and Caroline going back to the festival for Kilt’s second show, while NanC, Jane, Karen and I went back to my house to jam. An enjoyable day was had by all and I am planning on kidnapping NanC to go visit Jane in Richmond in March some weekend. We were able to get a nice three-part harmony going for the Seven Joys of Great Big Sea and made up the Jeopardy version of Captain Wedderburn, LOL! My fiddle playing almost didn’t suck and hopefully I’ll be up to snuff in March.

There! That was SOME GBS content!
