Amy & Robin's live performances add an additional element of chemistry when the two singers seem to sing from the same mind and heart. Curtis & Loretta
Acoustic folk music duo Curtis & Loretta have been acclaimed across the country for their exquisite harmonies, incisive songwriting, and skill on an array of stringed instruments, including Celtic harp, mandocello, mandolin, guitar, clawhammer banjo, and ukulele. They've delighted audiences with their unique blend of original songs, traditional Celtic tunes, and occasional American folk and old-time songs, all underscored by their winning stage presence. |
|
Sat |
Don & Victoria
The Armstrongs both sing and play guitar, and are nationally known not only for their musical and performing talents, but for their songwriting achievements as well. Their songs have been recorded by such notables as John Denver, Judy Collins, Bill Staines, Jerry Jeff Walker and the Irish Rovers. Their songs and stories are alive with the spirit and mystery of life in the Southwest, touching on the Native American and well as Hispanic and Anglo cultures. |
|
Sat |
Eidolon
double neck guitar and cello beyond words Joe Scott and Hannah Alkire create an exciting new acoustic instrumental sound with Joe playing the double-neck guitjo, a custom acoustic guitar with two necks, incredible range and tonal qualities, sounding at times like a piano or a beautiful harp. Combine that with Hannah's stunning tone and impeccable cello-playing, and you have the ingredients for some very moving music; mixing it up with the 5-string banjo and cello on (believe it or not) a popular bluegrass number, a few vocals, and pieces that borrow from Celtic, Latin, and blues. |
|
Sat |
Chris Proctor
guitar dynamo Chris has advanced the arts of fingerstyle guitar technique and composition with each recording, but with Under the Influence, he's raised the bar on arranging as well, focusing on the music of his formative listening years and finding ways not only to pay homage to each song's origins, but also take us into territory beyond that of any mere tribute album. |
|
Sat cancelled |
Acoustic Amazon Her rich, sultry voice drips with emotion whether shes laying down a ballad or belting the blues. She is one songwriter willing to tangle with some tough, emotional topics, and on every track, her voice impresses as a powerful, expressive instrument. |
|
Sat |
Kate Campbell
Country Queen Since making her recording debut in 1995 , Kate has put together a body of work matched only (perhaps) by Emmylou in consistency, Lucinda Williams in terms of wrenching, honest self-examination and revelation, and no one for its sheer display of broad-based, intimate artfulness. Her endearing, clear delivery, eloquent gift for storytelling, and easy command of a full-range of American music styles, have combined to earn Campbell recognition as a formidable talent by critics, musicians and a discerning public. |

Ann & Terry Brock
Terry plays fiddle and Ann plays guitar and they both blend their voices in delicious harmony. Their tunes are a dazzling display of Ann's vocal talent, running a gamut of tempo and emotion. Terry's skill on the fiddle fills in with tasty, back-up harmonies and then takes off with some delightful breaks. They pack their performance with folk, country, bluegrass, and contemporary music, and fill it out with some great songs of their own like the power ballad 'Teardrops From My Heart,' and 'Midnight,' which actually bears a strong resemblance to Carly Simon's late '80s work. |
|
Sat |
Terry O'Keefe and Chris Sayre
Terry & Chris perform traditional folk music and offer a stunning variety of musical styles, especially songs and dance tunes from Ireland and the British Isles. Their repertoire includes a cappella sea shanties, rousing fiddle tunes, barroom sing-alongs, provocative ballads, rebel songs, jigs and reels. They accompany their songs with combinations of guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, piano, English concertina, Northumbrian bagpipes, accordions, and many other instruments. Laugh, dance, and sing with music inspired by the ancient Celts, Scottish kilts, English coal miners, and Irish leprechauns. |
|
Sat |
Dan Bliss
His guitar explodes with a chordal riff that forces you to make something move—your feet, hands, or hips—it doesn’t matter, as long as you’re moving. Then his voice comes in clean and strong, and we are what Dan calls “Open for Business!” And it can get down and dirty, too. This boy plays the blues like he really means it. He’s got the licks down, and he’s got the tunes: Classics like “Key to the Highway,” “Fishin’ Blues;” and contemporary like “Pony Boy,” “I’ve Been to Memphis;” as well as his own “Get Together with You,” and “You’re So Pretty.” Oh yeah! So pretty! So mean! |
|
Sat |
Jim Hurst & Missy Raines
Guitarist Jim Hurst and bassist Missy Raines are two of today's most creative and compelling performers in acoustic music. Their unique sound is both sensitive and powerful. Together, they draw on their varied musical experiences to create a diverse blend of original, new acoustic, bluegrass, swing, and country blues. Missy Raines was voted "Bass Player of the Year" by the International Bluegrass Association for 1998, 1999 and 2000. She was also named the 1999 Bass Fiddle Player of the Year by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America, and Bluegrass Now magazine readers voted Missy the 1999 Fans' Choice Bass Player. |
|
Sat |
Don & Mim Carlson
Don and Mim bring yet another set of tunes to remind us how lucky we are to have each other to sing about and for; as their performance, like the fabled cuckoo, welcomes in the Spring. Back to Bill Jenkins: “The Carlsons are country- and gospel-based and warm. They, unlike other singer-songwriters, sing only the songs that are good. Don's puckish humor, collection of odd instruments and other household implements, and self deprecating asides make it fun. Mim's voice and autoharp make it wonderful. Valentine's Day makes it timely. The audience makes it complete.” |
|
Sat |
Annie Wenz
She is known for her unique way of blending contemporary sounds with roots/traditional and multicultural influences and funky rhythms, and her music has been compared to Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon & Richard Thompson. Her warm humor and stories are woven with intricate guitar stylings and hypnotic Native American flute melody~ dances. Annie accompanies herself on guitar, native flutes, piano, & percussion instruments from all over the world. Her diverse audiences cross age and cultural boundaries. Annie Wenz’s music is described as powerful, spiritual, ethereal & bold... a patchwork of amazing stories & textures... like Annie’s life. Her songs take you along on her journeys...backpacking around the world through Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Bali, Australia, New Zealand & India; bungee jumping 150 feet off a bridge with her guitar on her back (Annie says “of course I got 2 songs out of it!!!”); climbing an erupting volcano in Costa Rica; and the list goes on. |
|
Sat |
Ann and Terry Brock
They have performed in over 25 states and Russia and in every conceivable venue; and they’ve been heard on radio stations from Tennessee to British Columbia. Their tunes are a dazzling display of Ann's vocal skill at running a gamut of tempo and emotion. Terry's skill on the fiddle fills in with tasty, back-up harmonies and takes off with dexterous breaks. They pack their performance of traditional and contemporary folk, bluegrass, and original music with energy and style. |
|
Sat |
Claddagh Ring
Each member of this unique ensemble blends a distinctive voice in tight harmonies with no one lead. The interchangeability of instruments, including the traditional penny whistles, bodhran, accordion, and cello, give the group the benefit of exploring various musical backgrounds that each member brings to the group for unique arrangements and sound quality. They continue to add to a repertoire that is multifaceted: contemporary and traditional, inspiring and enthusiastic, spanning the emotional spectrum, with the capability of satisfying the widest range of musical tastes. Added to all this diversity is the dimension of individual personality. Lloyd Helms and his outrageous humor; Devery, the nightingale of the Ring; plus newest members Mike Shields and Laura Rainwater create the most exceptional patterns of interplay for their performances that one could imagine. |
|
Sat |
John Walker
John is singing his last performance here as Professor of Philosophy at Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln, Nebraska. This year he’ll be stepping down from the podium where he’s oft expounded on topics from aesthetics to Zeno. No stranger to the Iron Horse, John has expounded here as well - his subjects ranging from big-leg women to the gospel spout and remedies for the blues. Many of his songs reflect his small-town Oklahoma upbringing in their laid-back accessibility and Southern rural themes. Just as many others combine foot-stomping rhythms with smooth melodies and expressive lyrics, all to the distinctive accompaniment of a unique finger-picking style of guitar playing. John recently released his 11th album Johnnie Walker Blue on his recording label Prairie Dog Music. |
|
Sat |
Jerry Rau
Once again Jerry is deserting his street scene in Dinkytown on the edge of the University of Minnesota’s Minneapolis campus to stop in El Dorado on his yearly pilgrimage to the warmer climes of Texas and Arizona. Don’t worry; he’s packed his guitar. Much of Jerry’s music is historical; he’s sung about his experience in Vietnam; written about the Civil War and General Lee’s horse, Traveler; and his trip to France where he traced the steps of Joan of Arc on foot. His latest CD, titled quite aptly, Road To The Sun is full of simple, quiet tunes that deal with those journeys, both worldly and spiritual. An evening with Jerry is an thoughtful trip down a road paved with thoroughly melodic and engaging tunes. |
