Stopping in Nassau November 14, 2006
Nassau Harbour
Nassau Harbour is a very busy one. On Friday, I watched the arrival of the Carnival Sensation, bringing to three the number of enormous cruise ships in the harbour. There was also a Canadian naval frigate, HMCS St. John's, in port. At dinner on Thursday, I visited with two crew members on shore leave. As I packed my bags on Saturday morning, I was listening to VOCM from St. John's and was saddened to learn that one of their shipmates had died in an accident while on shore leave. For $6, I could get a round-trip ferry ride across the harbour to Paradise Island. That was a very good decision and probably the highlight of the visit, since it gave me great views of these ships and others in the busy harbour.
