About Charlene Regester
Professor Charlene Regester of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill plans to attend the celebration. Professor Regester is a founder of the Oscar Micheaux Society and is an expert on race films and Oscar Micheaux. Professor Regester will give a presentation regarding Kansas-born Hattie McDaniel, the first black to win an Oscar. McDaniel won the Oscar for her portrayal of "Mammy" in Gone With the Wind.
